Risks and Consequences

What are the probabilities that a person has not tried gambling once in his life? Are there statistics to show the occurrence? These questions pose not a threat to anyone. These questions are the products of wonder and curiosity about gambling.

Gambling is always believed as evil. The Bible and Koran show disfavor to the act, regardless of gravity and form. Yet, not all of us know that we deal with gambling every single day of our journey.

The mere act of taking a risk in leaving your job for a better one is gambling. It is accepting the fact that there are consequences in every risk we make, in hope and faith that it will turn out well, as what we predict. But there are some times that taking risks can give unfavorable results and these are bad decisions made. Like gambling, a poker player plays his cards through bluffing and believing that he has the best cards to win the game.

In our history and culture, gambling has been prevalent since time immemorial. Excavations showed artifacts of dice and pieces being played and caves discovered with drawings of playing with shells and bones as money. Truly, early forms of gambling are imbedded in our history and culture that we can't deny that it has existed before us.

Scientists don't discover new ideas and technology if it had not been for gambling. These individuals took risks that involve their lives and family in order to discover and prove things that are worth more than what they used to be at present. Albert Einstein took the risk of being an outcast when he asserted his theory of relativity that later won him a Nobel Prize. Thomas Alva Edison didn't stop inventing the light bulb after he burned down his house a lot of times. These people are among the number of scientists who didn't give up. They gambled to prove their discoveries.

Now, gambling takes a variety of forms. It can be through card games, puzzles, table games or even the latest RPG games we have online. It can also be in form of new discoveries that will make our lives easier. Unfortunately, the positive side of gambling is often overlooked or forgotten because it has been stereotyped as evil.

We are borne to make decisions for ourselves. And making decisions have consequences along the way. The whole process of deciding one's fate is about gambling to get the best we deserve in life.
